Last checked: October 2026 — every rating, review count and listing field read on Clutch on 24 Oct 2026
Clutch’s star rating barely separates video production agencies; review volume does. Of the first 40 organic agencies in Clutch’s video production directory (24 Oct 2026), 29 are rated 5.0 and none is below 4.8. The median agency has 21.5 reviews, and only 4 have 50 or more. Increditors is 5.0 from 12 reviews; Vidico is 4.9 from 58.
We captured the Clutch listing card of 40 organic video production agencies, plus the 13 sponsored slots above them, and published every row below with a link to its Clutch profile. Three findings: ratings are compressed at the top (72.5% at 5.0), review counts are not (3 to 111, median 21.5), and the 13 sponsored agencies carry about twice the median reviews of the organic 40 (41 versus 21.5) with a lower share of 5.0 scores. Use the rating as a filter and review count as the tie-breaker.

Buyers pick a video production agency from a directory page more often than from the agency’s own site, and the directory most often pointed to is Clutch. In our own October 2026 test of Google and AI-assistant answers for video agency queries, the Clutch page clutch.co/agencies/video-production/explainer was cited three times. This post measures what that page ecosystem actually shows: how many reviews, at what ratings, at what stated price bands, for 40 agencies, on one date. It is written for US and UK marketing leads and founders who are building a shortlist, and for anyone at a video editing agency or studio benchmarking their own profile.
It differs from our ranked guide to the best explainer video companies, which ranks ten vendors on fixed fields and quotes their Clutch ratings. This page is the other half: the distribution behind those ratings. For vendor pricing read the video editing pricing survey; Clutch’s price bands, covered below, are self-reported ranges and not quotes.
How we built the dataset
Date and tool. All data was captured on 24 Oct 2026 with a real browser session from Clutch’s Top Video Production Companies directory (page 1) and page 2. Clutch returns a bot block (HTTP 403) to simple scripts, so a browser was the only reliable way to read it. Every value is copied from the listing card exactly as Clutch displays it; nothing is estimated or averaged by us except where a table says “calculated”.
Inclusion rule (n = 40). The first 40 organic listings in Clutch’s default order: all 37 organic listings on page 1 (Clutch positions 14 to 50) plus the first three on page 2. Listings marked as sponsored in the page code, 13 in total, sit above the organic results; we kept them out of the main sample and report them separately. Two cards (Lambda Films, Piehole.TV) show no review count in the listing, so we read the count from each profile page (33 and 15) and show no location for them because the card gave none.
Excluded from every statistic. Increditors’ own listing (the seventh organic listing on page 2) is shown as a reference row and is not counted in any average, median or percentage, so the sample does not flatter us. Clutch’s own research methodology and review guidelines describe how it collects and verifies reviews; we did not audit individual reviews.
📋 Disclosure: This guide is published by Increditors, a video editing agency, and includes our own services. videoeditingcompany.com, which describes itself as a division of Increditors on its About page, has a Clutch profile with no reviews yet, so it has no rating to analyse and is not in the data. The dataset is saved with a source URL for every row.
The headline numbers
Table 1 puts the two samples side by side. Ratings are the one-decimal figures Clutch displays, so a “5.0” can hide a true average of 4.95 or higher; the mean below is the mean of displayed ratings.
Two things stand out. First, nobody in either sample is rated below 4.8: on this page, a low star rating is not a risk you will meet, which also means a high one is not a differentiator. Second, the sponsored 13 have roughly double the median review count of the organic 40 but fewer perfect scores. That is a small sample (13), so read it as a pattern worth checking and not as a finding about Clutch.
Chart 1: review counts are spread out
Source: Clutch listing cards, video production directory, calculated from the dataset below. Increditors (12 reviews) is a reference row and is not in the counts.
The shape is a long right tail. Eighteen of 40 agencies (45%) have fewer than 20 reviews, 22 have 20 or more, and four have 50 or more: Signature Video Group (50), MultiVision Digital Productions (54), Vidico (58) and ORBIS Production (111). The interquartile range runs from 14.25 to 32.75 reviews. A 12-review agency and a 58-review agency offer very different amounts of evidence even when both display 4.9 or 5.0.
💡 Pro Tip: When two agencies both show 5.0, read the older and the lowest-scored reviews first. With only 3 to 20 reviews, one neutral review moves the average far more than at 58.
Chart 2: ratings are not
Source: Clutch listing cards, 24 Oct 2026, calculated from the dataset. Each bar is a share of its own sample.
Ratings sit in a band 0.2 points wide. In the organic sample the share of 5.0 agencies is 72.2% among the 18 with fewer than 20 reviews and 75% among the 8 with 40 or more, so a high review count does not pull the average down and a low one does not push it up. Eight of the nine agencies with 12 reviews or fewer are rated 5.0. The star rating tells you an agency clears Clutch’s bar; it does not tell you how many clients stood behind it.
Does Clutch order follow rating or reviews?
We ranked the 40 agencies by their organic position and compared that order with each metric using Spearman rank correlation (calculated by us from the dataset). The result: position versus review count -0.54, position versus rating -0.14, and review count versus rating -0.06. In plain terms, agencies listed earlier tend to have more reviews, while rating explains almost none of the order. The first ten organic agencies have a median of 32.5 reviews; the last ten have a median of 15.
⚠️ Caution: This is an association in 40 rows on one date. We did not test Clutch’s ordering formula and it likely weighs signals the listing card does not show.
What the listings say about price, size and location
Each Clutch card also shows a minimum project size, an hourly rate band, an employee band and a location. These are bands the agencies select for their own profile; they are not quotes and they are not audited by us. Table 2 counts them for the organic 40.
The practical read for a buyer: 37 of 40 agencies state a minimum project of $5,000 or more, and 15 state $10,000 or more, so a directory shortlist is a shortlist of project-budget vendors. Of the 31 that disclose an hourly band, 19 (61%) sit in $100 to $149, 7 (23%) at $150 or above and 5 (16%) below $100. Thirty-nine of 40 have fewer than 50 people. If your need is ongoing editing volume rather than one-off projects, a minimum project size is the wrong yardstick; see our comparison of video editing retainer cost for monthly models.
Where Increditors and Vidico sit
Our own reference row: Increditors on Clutch shows 5.0 from 12 reviews, a 2 to 9 employee band, Sheridan, WY as the listed location and 100% video production as its focus. Against the organic 40, 7 agencies have fewer than 12 reviews, 2 have exactly 12 (DOT Video Agency and Think Branded Media) and 31 have more. So the honest summary is: top of the rating band, bottom fifth by review count. We read that as a reason to keep collecting verified reviews.
Vidico is the other named benchmark. Vidico on Clutch shows 4.9 from 58 reviews, a $5,000+ minimum, a $100 to $149 hourly band, 10 to 49 employees and an Australian location. Its 58 reviews rank second of the organic 40 and sixth of all 53 agencies we captured. For how that review depth shows up in a vendor profile, see our Vidico review.
Our delivered work matters more to a buyer than a directory count: Increditors has delivered 1,700+ videos for 340+ clients, with named work for Emerj/The Trajectory, TuMeke, Riley Coleman, Trade with Pat, VYVE Wellness, Dr. Jonathan Tam, a GoDaddy pilot, eSafetyFirst and Rhythm Monster. See the case studies and the TuMeke project.

The full dataset: 40 organic agencies
Table 3 is the dataset in Clutch’s order. The agency name links to its Clutch profile, which is the source for that row; all values were read on 24 Oct 2026.
Reference row, not counted in any statistic above: Increditors — rating 5.0, 12 reviews, team 2-9, Sheridan, WY. Data read 24 Oct 2026.
The 13 sponsored agencies
Table 4 lists the sponsored placements shown above the organic results on page 1. They are kept separate because their position is an advertising slot, not an organic ranking. Same capture date and method.
Sparkhouse (175 reviews, 5.0), DD.NYC (109) and Levitate Media (91, 4.8) hold the deepest review records in the sponsored group, and only ORBIS Production (111) among the organic 40 comes close. DD.NYC lists only 10% of its focus as video production, a reminder that the directory mixes specialists with design and web agencies. Our Lemonlight review covers one of the sponsored vendors.
How to use Clutch when you shortlist
A five-step filter that matches the data
- Use the rating as a gate. Anything under 4.8 is an outlier in this sample; 4.8 to 5.0 is normal and tells you little.
- Rank by review count and recency. A 4.9 from 58 reviews is more evidence than a 5.0 from 6 (BearJam Productions) or 3 (1 Minute Media, The Animation Co.).
- Read the project size in the reviews. The listing minimum is a band the agency chose; reviews show what clients actually bought.
- Match focus to need. Prefer agencies whose focus is mostly video if you need editing or production, not web or branding with a video line.
- Ask for the same written scope from three. Hourly bands are self-reported and nine in forty are blank; a scope and a fixed price settle it.
Limitations
This is a snapshot of one directory page on one day, not a study of the market. The sample is the first 40 organic listings, so it reflects what a buyer sees first, not every agency on Clutch. We did not read review text or check review dates; ratings are rounded to one decimal. Minimum project, hourly and employee fields are agency-selected bands. Sponsored placement is judged from the page code, and n = 13 is too small for any statistical claim. Correlations are rank correlations on 40 points and show association only. Clutch re-orders listings often, so a repeat capture will differ; we re-check this page quarterly.
FAQ
How many reviews does a typical video production agency have on Clutch?
In the first 40 organic listings of Clutch’s video production directory, read on 24 Oct 2026, the median is 21.5 reviews, the mean is 26.2 and the range is 3 to 111. Only 4 of the 40 have 50 or more reviews.
Is a 5.0 rating on Clutch meaningful for video agencies?
On its own, not much. 29 of the 40 organic agencies display 5.0, 37 display 4.9 or higher and none is below 4.8, so almost every agency clears the bar. Review count, recency and what the reviewed projects were give far more information.
Are Clutch’s sponsored video agencies better rated than organic ones?
Not on rating. In our capture the 13 sponsored agencies had a higher median review count (41 versus 21.5) but a lower share of 5.0 scores (46.2% versus 72.5%). With only 13 sponsored agencies this is a pattern to watch, not a conclusion.
What do video production agencies on Clutch charge?
Clutch shows self-selected bands, not quotes. Of the 40 organic agencies, 37 state a minimum project of $5,000 or more and 15 state $10,000 or more. Of the 31 that disclose an hourly band, 19 choose $100 to $149 per hour. Ask each agency for a written scope and price.
Does Clutch rank agencies by rating or by number of reviews?
We did not test Clutch’s formula. In the 40 organic listings, position correlates with review count (Spearman -0.54) and hardly at all with rating (-0.14), so agencies listed earlier tend to have more reviews.
How does Increditors compare in this data?
Increditors is rated 5.0 from 12 Clutch reviews, which puts it at the top of the rating band and in the bottom fifth by review count: 7 of the 40 organic agencies have fewer reviews, 2 have 12 and 31 have more. Its row is shown as a reference and excluded from every statistic.
Verdict
Use Clutch to build a shortlist, not to pick a winner. The star rating is nearly flat across these 40 agencies; review count, recency and project type separate them. Ask three agencies for the same written scope and judge the proposals, not the badge.
