Uvi VFX video editor: green screen to finished film.

Uvi, an African creator, shot a music video, Hello God, against a green screen. We removed the screen, built the new scenes around the performers and composited the finished film. Drag the sliders below to see the raw footage turn into the final shot.

Beyond the green screen

Wings in a courtroom.

Not every shot was a green screen. Shot 24 is the courtroom scene where the angels walk in, filed in our Frame.io project next to the green screen work.

How it worked

01 · The footage

Performers, a green screen.

The performers were filmed against a green screen: a guitarist in one take, a woman in a patterned dress reclining in another. The raw files in our Frame.io project are the starting point you see in the sliders above.

02 · The key

The screen comes out.

We removed the green background from each take and cut the performers out cleanly, keeping their edges, hair and the guitar intact.

03 · The new world

A whole scene, built around them.

Behind and around the performers we built a new scene: a pink-and-violet sky of clouds with the woman lounging on a pink 3D-modelled seat, birds in the air and an airplane crossing the frame.

04 · The finish

Reviewed, then released.

Four cuts of the sequence went through review in our Frame.io project before the finished music video went live on YouTube.
